The base PCB's are now on order and but days away from being delivered, however In respect of the recent challenge i have given to Christian to find and impliment a workable solution for the LED back lighting in the time we have, while I push forward with the addition of support for paddle shifters with this it seems that while Christian is waiting for parts to try out and test, i am making very good progress.
In pulling out and connecting the last prototype of the transmitter board i had designed, along with my reciever board, i discovered that while the option of the ACC switches worked as expected, when i connected a couple of paddle switches it all went Pete Tong.
However i quickly recognised that some resistiors had been swapped and so got this all working as it should pretty quickly.
I have therefore since moved on to the interconnectivity of the receiver to the existing gear shift.
Today, with Christians help, i pulled my own Vehicles centre console apart to gain access to the control wires that go from the gear shift to the Auto Box ECU and added a tap into most of them with a ribbon cable that had a 9 way D connector that would be accessible once everything was put back together.
Once done, i had a test loom produced with a simple switch and Christian and myself took a drive and figured out what we could and could not do, control and how.
In respect of adding flappy paddles on a D4 wheel to a D3, this was really the last unknown aspect.
In short this was a very good day for this project

Hiya IDS,
We are currently awaiting delivery of the production PCB's
The smaller sub PCB's for heated and ACC implimentations, have already arrived, and do look rather nice with all the Gold Plating.
See for yourself

We understand that the Main PCB's will arrive with us in the next few days.
Therafter assembly and testing will commence in earnest
The Flappy paddle stuff i am working on is also going as well as can be expected and Christian has ordered a ton of parts in the expectation that he can find a workable solution at the last minute that provides a back light.
So all in all things are looking good

Hi guys,
Im on it!! Sorry for not jumping into thread earlier but the boss works me hard... so I have been hiding under a pile of PCB's and components.
As the Big Cheese says, we hope to also resolve the lighting issue once the boards are in.

Hi all;
Very nice topic!
Is the D3 steering wheel airbag and cover ( the one with the green LR badge) compatible with the D4 steering wheel pls?
A friend has a D4 wheel but no airbag or cover.
Thanks

Hi Colin,
Do you have a solution for a manual D3 already ready then? I have cruise and phone with voice and that's it? No heat unless this is also available , then I will upgrade my slip ring to suit when fitting.
Obviously no paddle shift is require for the manual setup

Hiya all
Yes I can personally confirm that the airbag is the same as I used my D3 Airbag on the D4 wheel I fitted when testing my prototype and taking this video for You Tube.
You can even tell its an old airbag by the upwards curve on the upper edge
Regards an update, as you can see the picture in my last post the production sub boards for ACC and heated had arrived and we were waiting for the Main left and right Pair.
Sadly our PCB suppliers dropped the ball and after waiting ages for them to arrive, we checked with them only to discover they had lost the order so we had to start and wait all over again.
Seems that nothing is easy or quick with anything related to this project.
Thankfully we do not give up easily
However they have just arrived and on the same day we also got the Receiver and Transmitter PCB's for the paddle shifting, so now we have all six boards in stock.
Today my production department started building a couple of everything, working out all the build details and costings etc and Christian has started doing some testing in the hope he can provide a workable solution for the back lighting and is quite confident he can do this as he is trying much lower powered LED's that might not be spot on colour wise but will be close enough to not really be noticable. In fact we discussed if we should think about providing a different colour altogether like Blue
In fact he plans to go in over the weekend in his own time to do this.
So early next week we fully expect to be doing some field tests just to be sure everything works as it should in which i am very confident as we have done so much testing and prototyping for this it is bordering ridiculous.
So hopefully barring any major problems or difficulties we do fully expect to have these up on our web shop by the end of next week.
I can tell you that there will be a basic kit of the main Boards, an add on kit for the heated wheel, an add on kit for ACC, which is only really applicable for some RRS's, and an add kit for the paddle shift.
I can only apologize for how long this has taken us to get to this point and thank you all for your extensive patience and understanding and hope that you will all appreciate that this project is and never will be something we expect to make any profit from.
In fact now I have a 2010 RRS instead of a D3, on which I simply slapped on a couple of paddles and enabled them in the CCF, I no longer have any personal requirement in this project.
However, I did not want to let you guys down who have waited so patiently and lived through this project with us from the very start, and since we had already come so far in the project and spent so much time and money on it, I figured we might as well see it through to the finish.
keep your eyes on this thread during next week for news on developments
