So we cant actually take our LRs to any LR dealer for warranty work because the dealer could refuse to do it based simply on where we live ????

All five of my LR's have been bought in one area (Belfast) & serviced + warranty work done at one dealers (Hudds)...there has been no refusal to take any task on.....ever & this includes some serious issues.

I am only just one individual doing what I have done....but to force me to do anything else removes my prerogative as an individual to take my business to where I want.......I cant see how the manufacturer can make me do anything else as the warranty is with the them & not the dealer.

The same obtains for my work car bought ay one dealer & serviced (+warranty work) at where I want

If LR have a problem with 'excess' warranty work, they should build them better!

Have to agree with BLF. I am very lucky to have Duckworth's in my area but if LR wanted me for instance to go back to Stratstones of Doncaster which I moved from because of poor service they would have to think again. What has happened to the free market. YLR Bow down Bow down Bow down are a success because of the excellent service and reputation they have worked hard to build...well done guys. Thumbs Up This is a kick in the teeth for their success and to a degree to LR owners as it is pushing the dealers to turn away business and give it to the poorer performing Dealerships. I feel sorry for any of you that may be pushed to these poorer performing dealers. Smacks a bit of Communism. Whistle Whistle Whistle

Or has that last Scotch gone to my head and I'm talking b Censored ocks again. Thumbs Up

Jonty is right but this spreading of warranty work also suggests the dealerships can't be trusted, that in some way the large amount of warranty work carried out by YLR is not correct..some how?? Otherwise what fook does it matter where this is done?? Wink

I know I'm ranting again.... Embarassed Embarassed

New D4 due 15/3 ..............................from Yeovil Very Happy

I've bought from them due in no small part to ther attitude over 3 years dealing on all matters - parts, service and sales (big up to Dan for a great deal on the D4 and associated trade in)

Although I'm just over 100 miles away from them it's worth every drop of the black stuff to get there
sorry for you guys who live too far away to buy from them

Maybe Landrover should look to bring other dealers up to Yeovil standard, if not they will struggle to crack further into BMW/ Merc buyers

I have a couple of points with regards to Nicks reply.
What happens if you are down that way on holiday and have issues with your car that need to be repaired under warranty as I did last year. Does that mean that you cannot have the work done as you are outside the post code area? After all many of us include a break away when we take our cars to LRY. I also took the chance whislt it was in there to get it serviced as I would have run over the mileage allowance whislt away on three weeks holiday.
The second point is that if other dealers jumped on the band waggon and offered discount or more reolistic pricing many people would actually go to their local dealer rather than travel.

It would appear that it is not LRY fault but the fact that LR cannot control their dealer net work especially when it comes to pricing, we have all seen the huge diffrence in prices from on dealer to another for the same work. When I worke for VW Audi you were tied to a fixed price for a job and it would be the same at all VW Audi dealer, perhaps LR should enfoce the same policy.

Nick keep up the good work Thumbs Up

I though the major issues wasnt pricing per say;but rather on work quality and attitude (to some customers Shocked )

It seems that Yeovil is a victim of it's own service levels, people go to Yeovil because of the great service. Rather than LR looking at excess warranty claims, they should instead focus on the shortcomings of the other dealers and understand why people go to Yeovil.

As for the warranty claims, they should track the VIN numbers and track location as this would be a much better way of judging warranty claims per dealer. It would be easy to see how many claims are from cars outside of the dealer area. You could in fact use it is a indicator of performance, if people are willing to travel away from their local dealer it must be for a reason. Some dealers who perform badly probably have more warranty claims per single car than a good dealer who knows what they are doing and doesn't replace things unnecessarily looking for a solution.

Just a thought (and I am not passing judgement on LRY's decisopns), but isn't this illegal...?

Maybe I am not reading the outcome correctly.

1. If a service discount is offered for servicing to an owner outside the catchment area, then no warranty work will be done.

2. Therefore, if an owner outside of the catchment area wants to pay full service price, then warranty work will be done ?

3. Or is it, no matter what is being paid for a service, warranty work will not be done.

If the answer is 2, then an owner can still get warranty work as part of a service and benefit from the long standing reputation of LRY.

But if the answer is 3 then surely that goes against the EU law of being able to take your vehicle to any garage of the same manufacturer (within the EU) to get the job done...?

I'm sure someone will quickly be along to tell me I'm talking b Censored ks

As Nick said if you purchase your car from them you are automatically in their postcode area and able to get your discount.

So if you want to get your discount then buy your car from them as I did.

Shocked perhaps this is a ploy to up their new and used car sales Very Happy

Roamingman: The terms and conditions of the Land Rover warranty state clearly that

Quote:
Should any part of the vehicle require repair or replacement as a result of a manufacturing defect, the part will be repaired or replaced completely free of charge by any Land Rover dealer/Authorised Repairer, regardless of any change of vehicle ownership during the period of cover.

This applies anywhere in the world not just the UK.

Yeovil aren't refusing to work on our cars any more, the problem is that Land Rover don't look at the number of warranty claims per vehicle serviced, they just work out the warranty budget based on the number of cars sold in that area. YLR can't afford to keep offering the discount and building up their servicing business out-of-area, because they get penalised for the amount of warranty work it brings with it, sadly.

If any dealer refuses to fix a fault under warranty then I would raise it with Land Rover customer service.
