2009 D4 2.7

Hi All.

some before and after photos of my MAP sensor.

its a 2009 2.7 D4 with 86,000 K's EGR's still operating.

it was blowing lots of black smoke on acceleration, prior to cleaning the MAP I did the following,

changed the air cleaner (no improvement)
replaced the intercooler hoses with silicone ones (no improvement)
cleaned the MAF (some improvement)

so far it seems like the MAP clean has done some good, time will tell

That's interesting, that's a huge hole compared to the D3 one! and its the same engine on your D4 so I wonder what difference it makes?

Would be interesting to see how the 3.0 D4s are doing. Been out a few years now and at this stage for D3s these were bunged up like a bunged up thing, also EGRs seem a lot more reliable. I wonder if they put them in and bunged in a little bypass pipe. Whistle

Just cleaned my MAP sensor.

Forgot to take an after pic, but it's clean like every other one. Razz

Where are the EGR's? So I can see if they are blanked off. Confused

There would be two pipes going outwards from the intake. The EGRs themselves are tucked down either side of the engine.

Two aluminium pipes with braided sleeve on?

So the blanking plate would be down the side of the engine, one on each side?

Yes, that's them. Thumbs Up

You'd have 4 blanking plates - two on the intake, one on each EGR valve.

By the sounds of it you have the pipes so not blanked, unless there a 50ps in there.

Cleaned my map sensor tonight (97k) was pretty grotty - hole about 75% blocked -

I went to clean it given a small drop in MPG and recent lag that has developed with a bit of smoke under heavy load - turns out I balls'd up re connecting the steel EGR pipe which had been blowing under heavy load (whoops)

Any way Ill test it tomorrow but thanks to the forum for another top tip..

Cleaned MAP sensor today

With higher fuel consumption last weeks, time to clean the sensor today. With 74k, not that clean but have seen worser pictures.

Let's see what the mileage does!

Just cleaned my Map sensor from my RRS 2.7. A bit groggy nothing serious so not really noticing any benefits really.

MAP Sensor removed and cleaned 61k miles, not too bad as some pictures here, hole slightly clogged but after brake cleaner, WD40 and some gentle tissue probing all clear. Seems a little crisper on acceleration, time will tell on MPG. Worth the 10 mins! Razz
