I would like to ask a friend to make me a separate dimmer.

Can anyone tell me what parts I need?

43KΩ resistor (if I remember well). The sensor/resistance circuit has to be
connected to 3 positions on the touchscreen mainboard, namely ambient light
voltage in (Vin), ambient light (voltage) out (Vout) and of course ground as shown

So, The list of components could be:

1 x 20-50KΩ photoresistive sensor
1 x 43KΩ resistor
2 x 2 red cables already crimped from RS components or similar

but...

I don't understand if I need other parts.
Wiggs, please can you help me? Bow down
what's under the orange part in your cable?

I am not sure what is under the orange part in Wiggs cable, but you will also need one more wire (black) for ground.

So in total you need 3 wires (2 red & 1 black).

No other parts are required for the circuit.

Thanks Wiggs.
Not only one resistor in you version then. It's correct?

which components are they?

Hi,
I have made the changes on this topic with the exception of the brightness circuit, but one thing keeps bothering me, by changing to FFRR mode the screen resolution changes and is not very good so I would prefer to use Disco mode.

If you look at the RRS wiring diagram it shows the reversing camera circuit connecting directly in to the rear of the touch screen in connector C2827 which is a 2 pin connector (same Fakra?).

So my question is has any one tried this on a RRS as the RRS forum shows everyone using the GVIF instead? If this can work on a RRS display can you fit an RRS flashed display in to an Disco 3 or will the system throw up an error as the wrong part has been fitted?

Finally if all the above works, can BlackBox or others create a new flash file to mix the RRS input with the Disco file?

Rennos,
How did you come up with the values on which parts to buy?

wyrover,

I just had a look at the various photoresistive sensors being on offer in a couple of electronics shops in Athens and decided to choose one with the greatest range offered. Then by going through various posts in the web I read somewhere that the resistor to be used should be about half the range of the sensor (I think it is one of the links I posted in this thread).

These sensors are very cheap to buy (abt. 1 2.5 Euro) so one can try more than one if he wants. Also there seem to come with a large or a small "head". I used a large one but a small one would be easier to conceal.

Discoveringcomfort,

The resolution is not bad when the brightness is OK, even when using a reverse camera. It gets worse if you use a car PC as I do and you have to send the video signal to the fakra connector at the back of the screen using a composite video cable.

Hi to another V8 owner, are all 05 HSE V8s Zambezi coloured? They all seem to be on this forum?

Do you two buttons do anything? One will take you to the phone screen but not actually work but will have a hmoe touch button, the other hard button will take you to the satnav home screen.
If they don't do anything then you have connection issues.
I ran mine with the while connector removed to see if I wanted to stay like it, I had to wait until the car went too sleep before I could reach a screen with a home touch screen button to get out of satnav mode.

Not had a chance to get back on it but neither button is working, so hopefully ads simple as not got the lead seated properly one end.

I could do with some help, I'm trying to check 2 screen's I have but I'm not getting anywhere.

Does anyone know the pins I need to connect for the screens below, and if I can simply supply 12v to test them, or do they need to be connected to the car?
