The other end of that brown Fakra connection goes to a black Fakra located to the left of the rotary gear selector just below the central cubby box console.:

Andrew,
Is it below the actually cubby box? Am I too far forward?

Just off the blower to Andrew. Cheers fella!
I needed to lift the greyish underfelt cover thing to expose the wires deeper down!

Hi G, thanks for the info, as ever the devil is in the detail... are you going to put together a pictorial, step by step when you retrofit the camera etc?, these sure make life easier.. Also, the last section of coax joining Fakra to screen ( available on this sites shop) shows for a Disco3, will it still fit?, it looked fairly short on length to reach from the side of the rotary selector to the screen??.

I am hoping to do a pictorial thing and Dangerdave said he was interested in breaking my car before he did his own so I, hopefully, will have some 'help'
Andrew 'phoned me again and said it maybe easier loosening the lower part of the central console to expose everything.
I too bought the Fakra from the D3 shop but this has a phono on one end and as you said a bit short looking.
I bought a 1m (which will be far too long) smb to smb for the job off the Bay.
You dont need to wait for me - happy to follow someone else's tutorial if they have the parts all waiting!!

Hi Dave & Grant,
Grant - good to speak to you earlier, just to confirm, easier to remove the centre console - remove the two philips head screws at the front, and the bolts (behind the rear side vents at carpet level - they just pop off) allowing access to the fixing bolts - 1 each side. Disconnect the cables and withdraw the whole unit.
You will find the cables underneath at carpet level. It is possible to access this connector without removing the centre console - you can remove the fixings and just lift it up giving access, but it is easier/clearer just to take it out the way.
Hope this helps
Dave - Just to clarify, you need to have a length of coax with an SMB connector at each end - 1 that pushes into the screen & the other to go to the Fakra below the console. I think the forum shop item is SMB to RCA. To use this item you will need to change the RCA for an SMB or make up a short lead to bridge the two.
It may be easier just to get a custom SMB to SMB lead made up, ideally not less than 24" long (gives you some free play when routing up to the screen).
Good Luck
Andrew

Has a strip down process. It 'looks' straight forward but as always I think it maybe not as easy as it looks.
It is more having the strength of mind to pull things off a new car opposed to it being difficult.
Will keep you posted.

Hi Andrew, just to clarify.. The adaptor coax needed from the Fakra near the rotary selector to the screen, is this male/male connectors or male/female.. just checking before I order the parts.
Thanks

Dave - I think they are male - they just push in.
If you are buying from Ebay you could just purchase the correct, neutrally coded Fakra (code Z - I think) pigtail. I seem to recall there was a company called China RF who did them.

Just man-handled the soft carpety thing to the side and there it was.
All the other parts arrived today from Nick (Thanks TLO ).
So, looking forward to getting it all sorted.

Hi Guys,
Just want to correct something I posted earlier
The fakra connector at the back of the screen is the PURPLE coloured one - which is 4th from the right NOT 3rd as I previously posted.
Connector C2820 in the drawing.
