I think they will do the same in the UK (before someone dies) but here a few have been reported to DOTARS (Aus version of VOSA) so maybe some pressure was applied.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Interesting - there are some VINs listed that were built on the same day as my car (10th March 05).
Also, Question 13 on Page 13 of the PDF file is of particular note - I have heard such a 'bubbling', although only when holding the car on the brakes whilst pointing downhill ...Regards,

I think these are only the Aus VINs. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I wonder if TLO has heard anything on UK ones.
However I think this one would give you something to argue with.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I think I'm good because I have the 4.4 V8- says it's for the 2.7 TD.
Oh well, going to the dealer on Monday, so may as well have it looked at. 17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca

Petrol engines don't have the issue as the don't need a vacuum pump.
They have plenty of vacuum at low revs.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

It's interesting that the vacuum pump was modified for production cars in April 2007, but the original Recall Action wasn't issued until June 2009 - more than 2 years after modified parts were being built into new cars....
So that was two years knowing that there was a potentially serious problem in the making.
Do these dates make sense to anyone? It seems too long (2 years) to leave a problem like this before launching a recall.
And if we think that they would have needed around 4-6 months to implement the engineering changes to the new vacuum pump, and that most customers didn't get their cars sorted until late 2009, then it's nearly 3 years.2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Maybe they didn't know if the modified ones would be better? 17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca
