I already have a camera (6-pin), LR051728- which I assume is the CAN bus connected version, fixed camera.
Is this camera suitable for my 2015 D4, if so I would be grateful for help on the part numbers for both the upper and lower tailgate looms. I have been searching on here for that info and although the subject is very well covered I can't seem to find part numbers for looms for this version of camera.
Or is it possible to make up your own cable to run from the camera to the connector at back of the roof. Jim

Hi,
Had a quick look at this and for the fixed CANBUS camera, these should be the looms you need:
LR053163 - lower loom with the switch
LR052996 - upper loom

Hope you can help and advise on best course of action.
LR4 (NAS spec), MY10, HSE and reverse camera flipped the screen (mirrored) and no yellow lines.
It is known issue and described as LR dealer was replacing cameras though I was wondering if it is not a software issue somewhere or if there is any way to fix it? Image doesn't flip just by replacing cables so it was probably a software doing that?
If a replacement is needed, should I go with LR043493 or can the newer LR051728 (CAN based?) be used?
I couldn't see under this thread confirmation on how to get bendy yellow lines. If to get them is only to go for LR051728, does any wiring need to be done?
Or maybe better to go with some aftermarket camera?

Only a replacement camera will fix this issue.
You need to fit the same camera part number really as the later cameras are totally different. Different connector, different wiring, different fitment etc.
Bendy lines are only on the full surround system. They are driven by the SASM through the camera module.
A generic after market camera in my opinion won’t be as good as OE and will probably involve more work than just replacing your old one.

Hi, you can have bendy lines without the full surround system but you do need the Meridian head unit and the CANBUS version of the camera.

That will be the 2014 to 2016MY then, the can bus will be needed to communicate with the SASM. I didn’t realise the later standalone camera was CAN BUS. I wonder if Famousfive is reading this?

That basically means that for MY10 it's a no go... I've HSE with Logic7 (speakers in back pillar, behind 3rd row).
Does the Meridian support that speaker set? What would need to be changed? Even if possible it might be a too big job to be done for just bendy lines, but if it would mean possible navi upgrade that could be a worth while/$$$.
Other option I consider for navi (OT here) is to put some aftermarket android based box and have it functioning under Nav section (GVIFO?) - need to read more and will cover it in separate topic as it is big OT for here. Sorry - just wanted to explain situation around switching to Meridian CAN BUS based camera if possible.

It could be retrofitted to a 2012 on but I don’t think it would work in a 10MY due to the differences in hardware etc.

Hopefully picking up my new to me 2012 D4 XS in the next few weeks. Once I get it I'll investigate to see if loom in roof is there, if so this is the first mod I want to do when getting back in a disco. Having read this and other threads I have the part numbers for the switch, loom and camera for the tailgate to start looking for. I saw Wiggs showing a female/female fakra cable for the front. Anyone got a rough length that is needed, looking on eBay and they vary from 0.5M to 5+m? apart from eBay anyone know of a good reasonable price source for all the other parts?
Cheers
Nick
