Paid God knows this forum has saved me a lot more than £10. I have a 2005 at the mo but what the heck may fancy an update one day . Hope some good comes of it and good on those fighting the cause.

Just signed up and went through the payment process. I'm not sure it went through properly? I got redirected back to the proceed page. I will check later if it went through and if not I'll try again.
Mine is an 07 and I suspect mine is one of those affected.
Good luck

Can I ask a genuine question out of pure curiousity...
After clicking the link and noting the thread was about a 7 year old vehicle having a part failure, I am curious...
1) what life expectancy do you / trading standards consider to be acceptable for a part on a vehicle? I was always under the impression that 7 years would never be considered to be unacceptable despite how annoying it would be to have it happen to you.
2) what would the forensic evidence actually provide again assuming that the units being tested are around 7 years old? If they have lasted that long surely no amount of forensics would override the answer to question 1 if trading standards consider 7 years to be an acceptable duration of a part on a vehicle.
Only reason I asked is because I've previously heard people claiming that the "non wear and tear" components on a vehicle should "never" fail, which not only did I disagree with considering that regardless of something being a moving part, things always suffer stress, wear, degradation, nothing has an infinite lifespan in the eyes of trading standards. So I was curious if anyone has got an answer from trading standards or motor codes? As to what would be expected?
Please don't assume this is intended to be argumentative I genuinely am trying to understand what outcome could possibly come out of this as it's already been stated that the part has been modified many times since the original and ones that have lasted until now surely have had an acceptable lifespan?

Just signed up for this ,
I've got a 56 plate which I assume (hope!), is unaffected but very interested in how this pans out so good luck
I'm wondering if we should give this scanal a "...gate", suffix ? Oilgate, Pumpgate? I'm sure there will be others but my mind is coming up with ridiculous suggestions now!
Keep up the good work
