I've registered and sent payment.
I have had a wealth of information from many people on this forum including how to's on belts and oil pump change so it's the least I can do. Sorry I no longer have the old one I changed it before this thread started.
It would be interesting to include, if possible, in your research how many of these failures occured after the belts have been changed. I know some appear to have happened out of the blue but I was surprised to find how low a torque setting is applied to the tensioner bolts.
I have a suspicion that some bolts may have been overtightened either when replacing or during inital build and it could cause premature failure. One option for JLR would be to say they redesigned the part to overcome this so not a part failure but operator error.
Anyway, best of luck.

Tom I think it fair that everything has a finite lifespan and this may come to nothing other than prove a design flaw, but perhaps we should focus on 2005 & 2006 models with no issues, then they change to a casing with less metal in it that fails, was this part of the BMW obsession to reduce weight on vehicles? Did someone go too far and introduce a duff part to replace a good part?
We all make mistakes and if this is one perhaps they will be fine upstanding people and hold their hands up to the mistake and deal with failures on an individual basis as they happen, it is unlikely there will be an open cheque book for us all. Paul Redding

I agree with this comment.
I did hear that Landrover have never seen a cracked one yet. Do you think that if they see one they replace it free of charge anyway without customer knowing.

I know, I have 73 of them, all telling me they've paid. Most have been updated on the page, but some still haven't which I'm trying to get through.
Have two offers of old oil pumps within the range, so discussing which ones we want to analyse. Also had some other offers of analysis, so working out the best way for consistent analysis to provide fair and technically accurate comparisons. Bodsys Brake Bible

Mikey is doing mine next week, you can have that if it's knackered and helps.
No point sending it if it's in reasonable condition.
No doubt Mikey will inform you of its condition though about 75k miles but age wise due this year, 57 plate
