Hi DaveT
Thank you for your post.
To clarify, the reported concern affecting a number of owners was an inaccurate temperature reading on the instrument cluster and the recently released fix relates to this concern and this concern only.
If your retailer have investigated your additional concern regarding the heating system of your vehicle, I would be more than happy to contact them to confirm their findings and assist as appropriate. Therefore, I would be grateful if you are able to provide me with the following information via PM:
Your full name
Telephone number
Email address
Vehicle registration
Full VIN/chassis number
Relevant Land Rover retailer
Regarding the software fix for the temperature sensor display concern, I can confirm that the chassis range of the potential affected vehicles is between 777507-813795. As such, any vehicles manufactured after 813795 have not been identified as being affected which also includes vehicles currently being produced.
I note your comments regarding tester vehicles and can confirm that we do not produce fixes to 'test' on customers vehicles. A concern has been reported and identified and we have taken the appropriate action to address and resolve the concern on the affected vehicles.
The update is intended to address a software error within the Powertrain Control Module which results in the inaccurate reading. A reconfiguration of the Powertrain Control Module is required to address the concern.
I note your comments regarding emissions and can confirm that the ambient temperature sensor display does not affect and is not connected in any way to vehicle emissions.
Regards
Ryan

The reported concern is somewhat wider than simply the display on the dash. That's just the outward visible sign of the issue. looking back to the start of this thread, the OP said:
Main issue is the Dashboard Air Temperature Readout. It is ok when the car is cold, ok ish when driving slowly (20 to 30mph) but starts over reading by up to 4 degrees when you go a bit faster. This is affecting the Climate Control when in Auto. You need a jumper on when driving as it is bitterly cold unless the temp is set to the same or above the Dash reading. There doesn't seem to be any finesse in it. All my previous ones were agricultural in response but at least they modulated. This one just blows arctic air all the time - not what you need in a Scottish summer.
There are many other posts detailing many issues and questions.
I appreciate (now that you've told me) that the fix is only for the display. This accords with my own findings that have been communicated back through my dealer, who has in turn communicated the limited nature of the "fix" back to LR technical.
I am still very interested to know what was changed to result in this issue, as i believe that to still be the case, with the temperature display simply having been reconfigured to display the correct reading. I note and fully accept that the display itself has no effect whatsoever on emissions.
I will PM with some further & particular details
Meanwhile, my offer to you or anyone from LRCS or LR Tech remains open - come and experience my car so that you can fully understand what may cause frustration in your customers, and I'll still throw in the pasty Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Is it really a hardship to turn the temperature up when it's cold, and down when it's hot?My D3 Build Thread

Mike,
When you turn the requested temp up, the car temp rises, meets the value, then admits cold air which is actually 3 deg colder than hevac thiks it is, so the actual temp of car then falls to below the start value.
Turn the requested temp up, and the same happens again.
You may find it humorous, and in some ways, so do I.
But believe me, there is a real issue.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Mine has both issues - the SW update seem to have fixed the external temp reading (and the associated things that links to, like frost warning, turning on heated screen etc), but thats a separate issue to the HVAC temp issue.
My wife is always complaining about cold air being blown on her, almost irrespective of what you've got the cabin temp set to. This wasnt and issue in mt MY12 D4.
I hadnt thought of it as Dave had described, you get warm up for a while, then it starts blowing cold - I will see if thats the way mine seem to be operating.

yes, all the stuff that should work based on temp do - they did before, it was just that because the car got the temp wrong they didnt come on. Even before, if the car thought it was below 5 all the things like FBH, heated screens, ect would work, it was just that if the car thought it was 4, then it was really 0 or 1 C
Just to add, after SW update, I think MPG has improved (well lie-o-meter is reading higher). Mine has only got 5k miles on it, so for the early days (in winter) I wasnt expecting high mpg, but hadnt seen anything into the 30's yet on the trip comp. Now I am on a long run - was seeing 34 yesterday. I will be checking against my consumption from fuel receipt vs miles later.
