The black plastic on the inside of the numberplate recess stops at the point of the line under the lights. why would it do that it looks awkward unless there is a split.

I'm also going to guess that if there are 2.0 litre engine options then that's what we will get over here in sunny Ireland, again, to suit local tax regulations.....

It looks like it still has some form of plastic disguise across where the split would be, the guys who disguise the cars probably read this forum and are themselves laughing at all the speculation going on Cheers Ian

Looking back at some earlier spy shots maybe they haven't actually finalised the design yet? The "line" suggesting a split tailgate appears to have been moving around somewhat on each mule! Some depict the line running straight above the rear lights, some at the bottom of the rear window, and some like we discussed in today's shots, running under the rear lights.....
Also it looks to me as though the external rear wheel carrier is integrated into the lower rear bumper assembly..... Alongside the towing systems.....2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

I think that is the edge of the rear lights. The disguise hides most of that part of the rear lights with just a small cut out for possibly the reverse lights.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Why would LR invent the 'activity platform' with a single piece tailgate of they were going with a split tailgate?! It's a one piece and there will be some silly pull out bench. I'll eat the hay with the donkey as well if I'm wrong.
I wonder how many people will go into an LR dealer intending to buy an RRS but drive off with a D5 considering how similar they look??? For the first time buyer or someone who doesn't know the brand I don't think they will know the difference.16 D4 Landmark
