I think it's a possibility that they'll be a sprung version, as there was on the D3 in the early years. Perhaps even a 2wd version as well.
That would bring the pricing down for an entry level model that would still appeal to those who just need a 7 seater "school run" car or large capacity estate.
The vast majority of D4's never venture off road, other than parking on the school playing field on speech day.
I was in a sub two year old steel sprung D4 in Southern Africa recently and it rode beautifully on Tarmac, no TR mind.2014MY Discovery

As far I could establish all D5's are going to be 7 seater. At least for the medium / long term anyway. I doubt LR are going to be too pushed about changing the production runs to build the "Paddy 5 seat Utility" version for a very long time. That market I suspect is a very small drop in the ocean, compared to the rest of the world market.

There definitely won't be a 2WD version, LR haven't made a 2WD DS so don't see happening anytime soon on the D5.
When "Mrs Zeb" was looking around when she was changing her X3, we looked at the DS & were told by the dealer that was indeed a 2WD version available if we wanted

The 5 seat Utility we have over here is more or less unique to Ireland, built for our tax rules, in a similar way to the earlier various forms of Discovery Commercial that we had over here way back, all either converted locally upon arrival into Ireland or built at Solihull to suit (as they are at the minute). Whether there will be a 5 seat version of the new Discovery will depend on whether the load space behind row 2 is large enough to qualify (think it has to be something like 130% or such to qualify).
And yes, the eD4 version of the Discovery Sport is widely available here, it is 2wd.
Most current D4 models over here have the single speed transfer box also......2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

We don't have it in the UK though, there is no need for it here as the 4WD e-capability car meets the lower emissions for company car drivers.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I've got a D5 on order, which will be my first Discovery. Latest from my dealer is that the reveal should be "soon" and they'll be getting their demo cars in December. I'm number 18 on their list but I'm hoping a few people will drop out so I can get my car before the new VED taxes kick in next April.
Including a new one where you can see a bit of the dash:

me! the steering wheel is disgusting! That would be reason enough not to buy it. Can't imagine looking at that every time you drive it. presume there's a sticker covering up LR in the middle. It's either that or they've gone all retro with an 8 tack player on your steering wheel!
