oh poop - why is nothing easy......would an aftermarket camera work if I get an RCA to Fakra adaptor cable to run through the loom that is there?
I assume that I just solder those Maplin connectors to the AV cable wires, plug in and get it coded?
On aside Bodsy, I have been informed that you are the genius I should talk to you about getting things switched and other issues re software, is that right?

Please i need help from the colective here
I have a 2011 xs. I was unlucky enough not to have the wiring already in the car - that has been overcome with a lead I have put front to back.
I have used an after market camera and wired it to be on permanently from the 12v socket in the boot.
I have soldered the maplin connectors on and placed them on pins 2 and 5
I have used my nanocom to update the car and the diagnostic screen now states the reverse camera is present and I get a screen when I place the car in reverse.
However - I do not get a picture - I get scrolling lines going diagonally across the screen.
I have checked the picture could be there by plugging it in to the kids dvd player screens - lovely picture!
Please - what have I done wrong? I turned on both park assist parts on the nanocom as far as I'm aware.
I'm wondering if I have not completely turned on the reverse camera system.
HELP - I have spent too long working on this and swmbo is not happy as its her car!!
Thanks

Are these lines that are black and white, almost like a badly tuned TV.? Sounds like you have only enabled one section when you need to do two. I can't remember which is which TBH.

The power to the camera, disconnect the earth.... Most of the newer cameras earth out on video shield and power cable earth. I've had some that needed to have the power earth removed in order to work.
If it's not that, then double check all the wiring, but it just looks like the signal is going to ground somewhere.
You've swapped round the signal and ground in the touchscreen to make sure you've not got them mixed up?
If you disconnect the camera cable and put the car in reverse, I'm guessing that the screen will be black and have no wavy lines etc. So it's not the CCF settings.
Then finally, are you sure you have a NTSC camera and not a Pal camera?Bodsys Brake Bible

Thank you Bodsy! Having taken the dash board apart numerous times and checked through wiring completely it was all down to the wrong camera!
In my defence previous stereos I have put cameras on didn't care what the input was a they appeared to sort them selves out.
Any way. All in the job cost me 65 pounds! Do pleased with that.
Thanks again for your input Bodsy... I May still have been there if it weren't for that pointer! Upgrades so far - , rear ladder from prospeed , front and rear light guards G4 style roof rack and 4 lightforce spots on the rack! Xenon lights

Back of Audio unit looks different to everyone else 2011 XS
So I got the audio unit out (minus a few trim clips lost into the dash). I cant seem to see this 6 pin plug that everyone is talking about. I do however have a two cable plug that goes up behind the fascia to a black box thing (forgot to take a pic). I am not sure if it goes directly to it or via the head-unit. The cable colours are blue and red, which then appears again at the head-unit.
My question is how do I connect the Fakra AV cable (which I found) to the back if there is no separate 6 pin plug.

Can't see any pics.
If you're connecting to the fakra wiring, you'll need to go fakra to two pin.
The slot you're looking for has 6 pins in the back of the screen unit.
It's not the back of the audio unit, it's the back of the screen.Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks Bodsy - I will keep dismantling.....I'll eventually get it all installed and then ready for coding. I forgot the upload button. They seem to be in an album now not in the thread. Do you know what the 2 cable plug is for with the blue/red cables?A recent follower of the green oval brigade.

Last question I think. What camera do I get? PAL or NTSC and how many lines? I've seen this one and thought I could put it in the LR space

Im back again....I have finally got round to finishing the camera installation. So far I have only viewed via the diagnostic screen but the image quality is poor and showing double - is this likely to be an issue with my soldered connections?
This one shows double yellow lines and for some reason not only does it show 4 lines but it also shows 1 pair diverging at the top of the picture!
Still
Haven't got the above issue sorted but it's a work in progress. What setting is needed to activate it on the IID Bluetooth? I activated the parking camera but it doesn't bring up the picture on the screen when I go into reverse. I have checked through the screen diagnostics and there is picture coming to it. Is it something else I should activate such as screen av input?
Panic over...went back out to check and it's working now. Reflashed the IPC which maybe helped. Also noticed that my wing mirrors had stopped folding in when the car was locked but since the ipc reflash that seems to be working again now. Phew.
