I need to sit through the mountain of emails to finish matching up the payees to the ticks.
I'm also just waiting for a couple of oil pump cases to get to me. I'll nudge those that have offered.
Farmer frog, happy for you to use my Reg number. EC07 MUD. It was replaced by Shukers in Shrewsbury in June/July 2012
I made a simple case including these points
Full service history
Belt and all bearings replaced at 100k
Mixture of LR and Indi service history
Oil pump redesigned and on its 4th version.
At the time I had evidence of 17 other incidents of the same failure
Included comparison photos of new and old pump
Included evidence of at least two others photographs supplied with the same failure
This is a catastrophic failure of a component that IS NOT examinable at normal service. Leading to a catastrophic failure of the engine.
To repeat, I and many others on here have received free of charge replacements for this failure. They are more than aware of this issue and to say that they are not is complete and utter bollhocks.
I would strongly push for 100% contribution. You had the work done at LR dealer by the sounds of it, so IMHO this is the responsibility of LR to replace.

My "Frieda" died some weeks ago, due to a broken oilpumpcasing.
After writing a mail to LR Custumer Service Germany they offered me 25% discount only on the parts of a new engine. It seams that they definitly won´t offer me more.
My Frieda:
Disco3, MY07, 190.000 km
service history lacks a little bit some services are late, cambelt for example was done at 170.000 km instead of 168.000 km
last service done by a free garage.
- Any tips to gain more help from LR?
- comes this oilpumpcasing with the motor from peugeot, or is it a LR problem?
sad regards from germany

Bodsy - many thanks for your reply. I am getting absolutely nowhere with LR. I have now been without the D3 for 6 weeks. LR are refusing to budge from their 50% contribution, costing me nearly £5000. I even offered to pay a lower amount but LR have not even replied to my email. This has now been over a week.
LR were quoting a bare engine for £5800 + vat. Craddocks (Staffordshire) are selling the same part for £4500 + vat. LR still refusing to budge even with this information.
I am thinking of getting legal advice now.
Are you any further on regarding getting the parts independently analysed?
BTW, you are more than welcome to use my photographs.
Kind regards,

Definately think you should go legal farmerfog. Bought 5 years old, now 7, over 120,000 miles covered, of course you should get an engine free of charge! I pay for extended warranty but you should get 120k free motoring on your vehicle? Hmmm ok.
I think there are plenty of genuine and reasonable cases for this. People who bought a 5 year old car in some private sale are far from genuine cases as you have never entered into an agreement with land rover never given them any money and are then asking for them to show you loyalty to them?
Those who bought new or even a used one from a dealership on the approved scheme and have regular servicing on the other hand definitely should be getting assistance with this problem. I wouldn't pay for my extended warranty if I knew they were giving people 100% contribution for showing no loyalty at all to them. Be reasonable, sadly many aren't.

Hi,
This happened last week to my 2007 Disco3 Owned from new, FSH.
Can't believe Land Rover won't man up and let people know there is a problem, it's embarrassing. At least if they informed their customers we would happily pay for the preventative maintenance. Instead they refuse to admit it and end up costing people thousands of pounds.

I have lost the plot on this saga as regards the years that are affected. Is my MY05 at risk, can anyone tell me?2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

well mine is getting done in a fortnight by the super Mikey, so we will se how much stressing is visible in it, if any then all are likely , and as I work with O&G if fatigue is showing up on the design the older ones with mileage will also suffer due to the poor design, comes down to cost.FFRR SC 4.2

I felt sure I had seen pictures of the original oil pump casing on the 05-6 and then the inferior 07 onwards until changed again.. So is there known numbers of 05 failures or are we talking about precautionary?

At the price of an engine and any mechanical pump going to be worn after 100,00+ miles it has to be in your best interests and that stress marks have been seen in the early ones as well, so I would say
precautionary
Bodsy, any updates on this topic with facts from analysis yet to be able to even get the pump and gaskets for free would be a start from LR.?FFRR SC 4.2
