I've been promised several oil pumps, but have yet to receive them. I've requested on here again for oil pumps removed from 07 and 08 d3's.
I was kindly provided a current spec oil pump from TLO. No point getting it tested yet, need evidence from ones removed please.
So, to repeat, If you have had an oil pump removed from 07 and 08 d3 or rrs, then please please please can you send to me. If possible, include the vin details and date of change. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi Bodsy,
Not enough posts to PM you but I had my 07 D3's belts changed last week on 83,000 and following the advice here had the oil pump casing done as a precaution, fortunately there were no obvious sign of any issue on inspection afterwards.
If you PM me your details I will happily drop it in the post.
Cheers
Mark

Hi All,
Apologies for the lack of updates, the Caterham F1 purchase I had thought of, but alas I missed the e-mail on that one.
I caught up with Douglas earlier in the week.
After feedback from a couple of members in the casting industry on here over the summer, the consensus of the castings is that they are very unlikely to be casting imperfections in the oil pump cases on that scale, so the original idea of the expensive x-ray/trace/crack testing etc are unlikely to yield much that would be of use from a 'quality management' perspective. With the exception of the couple that showed initial signs of stress.
But, the more likely scenario is that the casings are performing as designed. Albeit that the designs of the casings have changed three times to stop failures that had happened.
They would not have undertaken an incredibly expensive redesign without good cause and I have plenty of examples of the two main cases early and late which demonstrate the variance in them.
This much we know and can demonstrate the differences and have the examples of failures occurred in the first version.
In order to achieve the leverage required, we need something that will be a real challenge to achieve. That is, we need information on the actual re-design and any technical info that went with the component redesign. this information is likely to be only within LR or possibly certain elements of the Dealer network. I have tried various searches to no avail and I would imagine that this information would be more challenging to get hold of.
So does anyone have other informal-routes to LR or PSA or Ford that may be able to provide anything that would be relevant around that design piece?
