Well mine is in today and the dealer has now confirmed there is a fault
They agree the outside temperature display is showing around 3 degrees more than the true temperature.
A few days ago the windscreen was covered in frost but the display was showing 7 degrees and there was no frost warning indicator illuminated.
Parts are on order so will see what result they have once fitted.
Incidentally, when the car was left with them this morning the display was showing 10 degrees however the Disco4 loan car was showing a more true 7 degrees!

What model year was the loan car? LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Since got back from a two week trip to Germany with two Discos, one a MY11, the other our MY16 and we made a point of comparing Temperature readings in every type of scenario, cold start, city driving, motorway drive and everytime the MY16 was showing 3-3.5 degrees to high compared to the MY11 and other external temperature sources such as weatherstations, public display units and outdoor thermometers. This also meant the FBH, heated windcreen and ice warning did not come on at their prescribed "normal" ambient temperature. Will be booking in to dealers shortly. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Mine is MY2016. It is also showing wrong (too high) external temperature. But I wouldn't say there is a consistent 3°C error. Once it was -3°C outside and at that time there was even no difference. On another day, I am almost sure it was more than 3°C too high. The heating is working fine.
What I noticed today is that the ice warning symbol was not on during the first half of journey and it went on afterwards while the temperature was showing +4°C all that time.

from memory the ice warning symbol comes on when the external temperature goes down to 4.5-5 degrees or below. Once on it stay on until the temp rises above 5 degrees. If yours was showing 4 degrees it was probably already down to an actual 1 degree, so you got warned too late . LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I have the same problem with my MY2016. Temperature diplayed is 3°C too high and I need to set the heating to 23°C for getting warm air out of the vents.

Well my car has been at the dealers since Monday for the outside temperature issue to be fixed.
The sensor unit behind the front bumper has been replaced.
The result is....................... its approaching midnight and since 6pm this evening the display has been checked several times and is still showing 11 degrees.
Not bad when the North West is currently 6 degrees according to the Met Office web.
To be continued !

The problem seems to be that individual dealers are not aware of the consistency of this problem for 2016MY's as identified here in this thread and each are trying to apply their own fix ....the quicker LRCS get a reasonable bod in the likes of Pete who was awake to the issues and had the balls to push them forward the better. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

That prompted one final look - still 11 degrees at almost 1 am.
Looks like its shorts and tee shirt weather and summers here
update.....
So on to this morning, at 6.30am a display of 9 degrees which quickly changed to 10 degrees once moving. Not bad when the maximum reported by the Met Office for today will be 7 degrees.

I contacted mt dealer again yesterday, they are at a complete loss as to what to do. I asked if they had had this issue with any other new car, they said no. They also checked with LR and informed me that no issues of a similar nature had been logged with LR.
They told me to contact LR direct and inform customer services and get a case number. I have now done this informing them of the issue of the outside temp gauge not showing correct temp and the heater not working efficiently. I asked them also if this is a common issue on new cars, they informed me that they had not had any issue like this logged from anyone else.
On another note, the service person at the dealer did let slip that he too thought the heating on a new didnt seem that good, and that he had to turn it up to 25 to get any heat coming out !!!!!!

qwick69 (your profile shows a 2011 model)
I would be quite happy to also contact LR customer service. If you could pm me the name of the individual then I will make sure they are then aware its not just you who has the problem.
Perhaps it best - if you agree, that we could all use the same point of contact.
I emaied my dealer at 1am and again at 7am with the updates from the "repair" they did yesterday and now awaiting a response.

Gents I have also had a new temp sensor fitted which same as BBDisco3 made no difference what so ever ! same 3 deg difference !! also I have been in contact with Land Rover customer services twice over the past two weeks and my dealership has been in contact with them also trying to resolve this fault so for LR customer services to turn around and say they have never heard of this fault is utter rubbish .. My dealership contacted me on Tuesday morning to say that LR technical want me to return my car for a further 48 hours of comparison tests! given that to date it has spent a total of 6 days with them already I fail to see what more comparison tests will prove..we all know it is 3 deg out ! at this stage I am still waiting to hear back from my dealership and LR as to what they plan next..

Please keep us informed.
My vehicle is booked into the dealer for this issue later this month... but obviously there is no point in them replacing the sensor if that isnt going to solve the issue.
Again,
I will also happily call LR customer services if anyone has a name/case number they can give me?

Getoffmyland, I made contact with LR via their facebook page and their Customer services guy Ryan contacted me for further details and a member of their team called me back within a few hours. The only the number I have for LR customer services is 0370 5000 500. As for a case number..sorry cant help you there as it seems like they are denying there is a problem at all!! suggest you get on the blower and give them and ear bashing as they must have had dozens off calls from owners and dealers regarding this fault. good luck.
