I've got the same issue with mine. MY16 SE - shows approx 3-4 degrees above what the real temperature is, it also needs to set at around 24 for a comfortable temperature. I'm relieved in a way as I thought I was going soft!
Not sure what to do after reading the comments, seems there's little point in taking it into the dealers.

Hi all
Thank you to all of those who have raised the concern both to myself as well as our technical team via our Land Rover approved retailers.
Following the information collected and investigations that have taken place, we have identified a concern and a software fix is in the process of being developed to address this. Our retailer network will shortly be advised that a fix is in the process of being produced, however at the current time I would be unable to provide an ETA for the fix.
I would be happy to monitor the situation and will update this thread once the fix has been released and I will shortly reply to each of you that I have been in contact with directly.
Please be assured that this individual ambient temperature gauge does not affect the routine functioning of your vehicle, however we will be looking to resolve this in due course.
Regards
Ryan

From the comments made in several posts by forum members, there is clearly now some uncertainty about what some forum members need to do.
Is it still necessary for owners to take their car to the dealer for them to have the fault confirmed as it seems you now accept it is affecting all the 16MY vehicles.
Do you have the range of VIN numbers to which the fix will apply.
Please update the position.

LR have, today, issued SSM72595 relating to this issue:
Issue: A customer may report that the ambient temperature reading displayed on the Instrument Cluster is approximately 3 - 4 degrees centigrade higher than the actual temperature.
Cause: Software calibration error.
Action: Land Rover are currently investigating the concern and will release a Technical Service Bulletin shortly detailing the necessary repair procedure. In the meantime please do not carry out and further diagnosis or component replacement until a solution has been communicated.
Note: Only applicable to 3.0TDV6 GEN2 derivatives.

Ryan do I still have to get my temperature sensor replaced? Or do I cancel and await the notice of a proper fix?

My car was returned to me last week. New outside temp gauge fitted. No differance. Still reads high, but my biggest issue (which was the original issue) is the heater still does not work efficiently and only blows out warm when its turned up to 26-28.
Have not heard any more from garage despite chasing them. Contacted customer service, they now say outside temp gauge does not effect internal heater in any way, despite them saying on my last contact with them that it did.
Not sure what to do now.
Awaiting a call back from LR, if I hear nothing, which I suspect will be the case, I will get legal advice as to what to do.
Maybe a call to What Car as well.

Until you lot start talking about rejection due to the heater issue they aren't going to take you seriously. This is just another surround cams, they're making the right(ish) noises til they declare it's all working as planned and before you know it the 3 years are up & no longer their problem. Doubt they'd take you seriously re +3c over reading display but heating operation like that isn't something you should put up with on a car that cost that much, or any car.
Just my thoughts.

I have notified my dealer that i will be exercising my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 unless they provide a fix when the vehicle is in with them next week.
I don't think they believe me.

My dealer cancelled my booking, they phoned me yesterday (booked in tomorrow) to stay that LR are aware of the problem and a new temp sensor doesn't cure the problem and I would be contacted in due course when a fix is in place.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Mine has to be around 24/5 before it blows out warm air ...... but provided it does, is it really an issue? - not for me anyway... 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Mine is exceedingly slow to warm up, then the heating operates as normal provided it is set 3 deg higher than normal (ie 24 yields 21), but then as soon as the car reaches temperature, cold air is admitted, resulting in a need to increase the temp setting, ending up alternating between 28 and Hi.
The heating is most definitely affected!

Exactly the same issue as mine.
Trouble is, car is now three months old and 5000 miles on the clock. Issue pointed out as soon as I purchased it, but despite numerouse visits, not fixed.
I suppose they will use the argument that the car has done too many miles to reject.

They can try but cars have been successfully rejected with many more miles & time than that.
