This was bothering me since I picked up the car back in December. I couldn't get the cabin temperature at a comfortable level to a point I was flicking between 26 and 28 degrees.
After reading this thread it is all making sense and to prove it I attached my Garmin Tempe to the roof and monitored the outside temperature.
Here are the results on 2 different days in 2 different locations with the car stopped.
Day 1
Car - 14
Tempe - 9
Day 2
Car - 9
Tempe - 4
Before I saw this thread, I was going to mention it to the dealer when it went in for its first service to see if there was a problem but reading this it looks like they are aware of the issue.
What do you recommend, wait until they issue guidance on the problem or chat to the dealer now?
I'm extremely worried as I do travel on mountain roads in the Alps with temperatures well below 0 and having an accurate temperature reading is safety critical to me.

I'd flag it up to your dealers - ie let them know that you are aware of the issue, and ask them to keep you updated when/if LR come upwith a fix. That way you have at least put a marker down re warranty etc.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
Previously:

Beef - It woud be best to mention this to your dealer so you can be kept updated as and when the fix comes along.
Do you also have the surround camera system or just the rear camera?

Did you have a Discovery prior to the 2016MY model?

Mine is a MY16. The cameras seem ok i suppose. Difficult to know without comparing them to other vehicles. I mainly use the reversing and wheel views and the quality looks fine for what I need.

Has anyone used a diagnostic tool to see what the internal temp sensor is reporting?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

When I checked that it was 12.5 C outside. The evaporator temperature aligns with that. It was cloudy, but the sun was up so there was probably some element of solar heating, although the sensor was reading 0.
I would conclude that the interior temperature was perhaps reading slightly high, but it was hard to tell.
I will happily hook the kit up again and check it though against a reference point. Will revert.

I've still got a bad feeling about all this!! ..... I suspect any fix will affect emissions and involve a lot more than just a simple software update.... so I'm not holding my breath. They may consider the hassle to sort a fix clashes with Euro 6 emissions and is just not worth it on an outgoing model.....
Dannyson - sadly, i suspect you may be right.
