Is that to Fix the Outside Temperature Gauge, or the internal heating issue??
As of yesterday, LR are insisting that the outside Temp Gauge has NO EFFECT on the internal heating. They are currently of the stance that there is NO ISSUE with the internal heating. Therefore, you may get a fix on the outside temp, but nothing will be done about the heating.

My dealer tells me that they have received the software update applied it to a comparable vehicle and tested it and it is working.
My vehicle is now booked in for next Friday to have it applied. I will keep you all updated.

Who at LR has told you that, as they would be incorrect?

The software is available on SDD 144.08 on 18th February 2016, but the SDD symptom mapping is not available until SDD 144.09 on 03rd March 2016, at which time a Technical Bulletin will be released. For any vehicles which require the software download prior to the bulletin release, please program the powertrain control module as existing on SDD 144.08

Well got fed up of wearing a coat and gloves in the D4 so decided to do a bit of monitoring with a thermometer to see what's going on. The results are:
External temp is always 3 Deg C lower than actual.
Ambient temperature in the cabin (excluding footwells) is normally around 4 Deg C less than set on climate control. However, gap reduces when there is some solar gain.
Footwells are normally at, or slightly above, temp set with climate control.
In essence I think the D4 has absolutely no idea what the temperature is inside or outside the vehicle!!

Pete@LandRover / LRCS / Ryan,
Can you please confirm:
Has the 'patch' been applied to vehicles now being produced - from what VIN?
Or are the current vehicle owners being used as testers first?
Are there any unaffected 16MY vehicles?
What does the update actually change, and why?
Please confirm categorically that the issue is in no way connected to, affected by, or having an effect upon vehicle emissions.
Thank you.

Hi DaveT
Thank you for your post.
I note your query and can advise that at the current time, this matter remains under investigation with Engineering. As such, I would be unable to comment further at this time.

Ryan

Thank you for the response Ryan. Does not sound very encouraging.
In fact it's the kind of reply that sets the alarm bells ringing in my head. Lets hope "Engineering" are willing to come forward with some answers. I find it extremely worrying that a perfectly functioning design can be changed, and then seemingly everyone forget what they have done, why, or how to un-change it.
Look forward to your update, can you please advise when this will be?Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Unfortunately, whilst that software update addresses the temperature display value, it seems to have no effect on correcting the Hevac operation -or at least not on my car.
Hence, looking for some more detail and assurances from LRCS. Unfortunately it seems they are less informed than us.
Open invitation: Anyone from LRCS - please feel free to come and experience my Discovery. I'll even treat you to a pasty whilst you're here. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Alarm bells? A couple of weeks ago it was supposedly 'fixed' and then some new software, which obviously is not working or I would have been contacted to take our motor in and with our dealer repeatedly saying there is yet no fix. A case of on the bus off the bus or stalling tactics?
All I can say, I'm getting a little peeved with not being able to set the heating in our motor to an acceptable standard. Also, I have noticed heating system starts blowing in air at full pelt for no reason.
Waste of time of having bought the remote when the vehicle doesn't know the correct temperature.
What I cannot understand though, this vehicle is at the end of it's life and there is now a problem with the ambient temperature. The only major change that I can see on the MY16's is the Adblu & EU6 emissions.
Oh, and as for general communication from the dealer/LRCS - you peeps at LR need to look the word up, cause you sure as don't know what it means...
So, anybody know what's causing this?Communication is the breakfast of champions...
